"I brought my upholstery cleaner to the fix-anything man when it stopped working. He had it fixed right away and even sent me a detailed video explaining the problem! The price was very fair, too. I would trust him again in a heartbeat."
"I came across fix-anything man's flyer and thought of a couple items of mine that have been sitting around waiting to be fixed. Communication about items, what to expect, and drop-off/pick-up was clear and prompt. They are considerate of price in regard to the item itself, labor, and sliding scale. Turn around on the items took about one week. I am so happy with the results! Not only are my items in working condition again, I was also provided with photos and videos describing the issues and resolution. I look forward to continuing to use this service to prevent waste!"
"Fix Anything Man really can fix anything! He fixed both our broken sewing machine and antique radio - both are good as new. I also had him do some bike improvements to change my gear shifters. I feel like I have a new bike. Prices are fair - loved the sliding scale. Communication was lovely too."
AVOID THE LANDFILL
Everything you've ever owned
is still here.
Although it may be difficult for the human brain to fully comprehend due to the sheer magnitude of our planet and the efficacy of our trash systems, there is no "Away." Your once-favorite shirt from 5 years ago is now disintegrating into synthetic polyester threads on the shores of Africa. Your 2013 MacBook Pro is in Southern Asia. Last month's plastic fork is swirling around in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.
Heck, garbage aside, doesn't that drive you crazy? I recently searched my house frantically looking for my old calculator watch. No dice. But I know better than to think it's "gone." It's very much here....somewhere. Contributing to plastic pollution waste instead of adorning my wrist with its oh so helpful 2 + 2's and sly 8008's.

What can we do?
It is our belief that above all else, we need to stop consuming. When that nagging "I need this now" feeling grips us, we need to pause, put our brains on alert, and question it. Imagine what item already in your home might suffice. Journal about your reasons for needing or wanting it. Consider the real added value to your life. Make a note to yourself and reconsider the purchase a week later. A month. Check craigslist. Build or make it yourself. Repair what you already have. Pledge to a No Buy or Low Buy month. Start a neighborhood text chain and borrow from your neighbors. Build community. Avoid plastic.

Unfortunately, some items made cheaply are the only items we can afford, and are sometimes not fixable (especially plastics). We also obviously need some things occasionally... hobbyist supplies, health related needs... so don't beat yourself up, either. Just pledge to yourself to consider more deeply. And let us fix your broken shit, if it's possible.
YOU'RE IN THE RIGHT PLACE. THANKS.
